Some months can be unusually painful or maybe every month is painful!!
Don't put up with it as acupuncture and Chinese herbs can be amazing relief for you.
How does it work? Well there are certain points that move blood and reduce inflammation and pain.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) there can be a few reasons why you get period pain...
1. Stagnation of blood in the uterus, or
2. A deficiency of blood in the uterus
Both are painful and both have different signs and symptoms that go with the painful period.
1. Blood Stagnation - Stabbing painful periods/flooding, big clots, headaches
2. Blood Deficiency - Drawing pain, lighter flow, tired with period
You could be one of these or a mixture, so it's important to get a TCM diagnosis so your treatment and herbs will benefit you the most.
So when to start a treatment? Easy, anytime. But if you have your period and it's painful then that's a great time to start.
I was urged to write this as I see the changes in the clinic every week, but this week it was my direct experience and it was extra painful. I haven't done as much cardiovascular exercise since I broke my ankle so obviously there was a wee bit more stagnation. So I arrived to the clinic a little earlier than usual and I put in some blood moving points, specifically Sp10 (in picture). My pain was 8 out of 10 and I was thinking "wow, work today is going to be interesting if this pain keeps up". So I drifted off for 20 minutes and I woke up to no pain. I got up and did a busy shift totally pain free. Now I know this acupuncture totally works, but to be recommended personally once again, I just had to share it all with you.
If you have period pain then acupuncture is for you.
