Anxiety attacks

Anxiety can really mess with your day to day living, so don't let it ruin your life.

There is help for you.

Case study...

Woman 46, married with two children ten and fourteen.

Full time worker.

One week before her period feeling anxious with no real reason, she feels like something bad is going to happen, this occurs at least once a day more to the end of the day.

Heavy feeling in her chest with a tight feeling randomly throughout the day.

No big stresses in her life though she does worry about her family.

This happens every month around the same time and seems to be an on going pattern throughout last year but growing more intense this year.

Her energy is very low by the end of the day and finds it hard to get to sleep as her mind is very busy.

No time to exercise and very little time for herself with no creative outlet. She feels down about this.

After the acupuncture first treatment...

She had a peaceful night sleep and woke with less heaviness in her chest.

Throughout the next day she felt calmer.

She had a panic attack in the afternoon but felt it was less severe.

She made some changes and added in some time for herself.

The treatment was designed to relax her mind while helping balance her hormones and liver function.

Further treatment...

We did this for three weeks with twice a week treatments, this worked out well as before the end of the third week her period arrived and she got to see how the anxiety was in that week leading up to her period. There was a big difference so we decided to keep her on weekly treatments until the next period.

She also had Chinese herbs all the way through this treatment and we made a few changes to her diet to take heat out of her system such as refined sugar, coffee, alcohol, hot spicy food and then we added in more gentle foods for her spleen and stomach such as broths, stews and soups. Herbal teas such as chamomile and more water throughout the day was also added in. Rescue Remedy was also used when she felt anxious throughout the day.

She also made time for herself on a regular basis throughout the week to exercise and go back to a creative hobby that she hadn't done in years.

She now does monthly maintenance treatments and keeps up with her herbs.

Anxiety can affect us all for all types of reasons and acupuncture and Chinese herbs plus lifestyle adjustments all play a role in managing this disorder. Please seek help for this kind of symptom as early as you can.

Best Tabitha
