In the third trimester, pain in the back, hips, or pubis symphysis area can be totally debilitating.
So we are luckily that acupuncture's forte is inflammation and releasing tight muscles. This tightness happens because the body is running out of room as the bub is really expanding along with extra fluid and your once tight tummy muscles are no longer there to support you. The nerves tend to get squeezed between those tight muscles and they send out warning signals of pain, shooting usually. This type of pain is easy to treat and will not take long to normalize. The body is in an amazing state while you're pregnant and healing is fast.
There is another sort of pain though and this is a drawing deep throb, and is usually radiating from your lower back, around the area of the kidneys. A deep tiredness will usually accompany this ache as well. This is your body getting a little over worked by all that it's doing to support and grow a baby. With this treatment we will treat the area but also the Kidney Yang of your body. The Kidneys are like your batteries and when low, they will ache to let you know. Treatment, good water intake and rest is imperative for this kind of lower back ache.
Pubis pain usually radiates out from your pubis bone and into your groin, this can really impede your walking so don't delay on some acupuncture. Once again this happens as the relaxing increases within your bloodstream, it is the hormone that makes you more flexible and hence less stable, making it easy for nerves to get pinched or caught in tight muscles that are trying to stabilise your skeletal system.
How acupuncture works...
Once the needles are in they deeply relax the layers of tight muscles by free flowing blood and oxygen to the area, this also helps reduce and disperse any inflammation. Your muscles will then release from your nervous system taking away the pain. It is just so effective.
Let your heat wheat pack be your constant companion to whatever area is effecting you the most. Gentle massage of a heating balm that is fine for pregnancy to the aching area will also relax those muscles plus lots of rest and drinking water. Rest is so important at this stage so don't resist your body's signs, especially if the back pain is deep and throbbing.
