Do you have a sore back that you just can't get right?

Do you have a sore back that you just can't get right?

You've had this back pain for weeks, sometimes years and you just live with the pain and discomfort, restless sleepless nights, sometimes putting on extra weight as exercise aggravates it. The list of how a continually sore back effects us is huge, it literally sneaks in and changes our personality and how we see life, making us cranky while causing us loads of pain, low energy and at times depression.

Acupuncture could be your freedom!!

How does it work...

Well acupuncture is very good at relaxing the muscle groups at a deep level, when it does this it flushes the muscles and tendons with blood and oxygen. This improves circulation into the muscles and relaxes them so they can function and support us normally. This also helps reduce and move inflammation which relieves us from the pain. When those muscles are tight they squeeze down on our nerves, the nerves then send us signals of pain. The body is an amazing system and pain is its way of telling us it needs help.

What you can do

  • In Chinese medicine we use heat to get the muscles to relax. So if you're still using ice & cold on an old injury, stop that for now and give heat a try. You can use a heating liniment with a heat wheat bag or hot water bottle to get extra heat into those muscles, especially when it aches. Using heat before you go to bed and before you get up in the morning can really get the blood flowing which will get the healing started and hopefully less pain. Often ice can slow down the bodies capability to move stagnation and inflammation so it's good for when you first do the injury, especially if it's swollen. But see how your body responds to heat, hopefully you are happily surprised.
  • Epsom Salt Bath - 1 1/2 cups in a hot bath for 10-15 mins is all you need.  This feels amazing and will help the muscles relax and release any lactic acid they are holding on to. It does this because of the magnesium in the Epsom Salts.
  • Take a good quality magnesium supplement, we use a  Metagenics brand which is a powder, high potency and easily absorbed.
  • Drinking at least 1 - 2 litres of water a day as tight muscles need more water to relax and flush out the inflammation.
  • Soft & gentle stretching into the area, a roller is fantasitc for this or a tennis ball.

We see the benefits of how acupuncture nudges the body back to health every week and sore backs definitely get results.

Best, Tabitha
