Frequently Asked Questions
- Q: How does Acupuncture Work?
Fine acupuncture needles are inserted into acupuncture points of the body to stimulate the local site and to send signals to the brain and internal organs via the meridian system. This results in a restoration of balance. The meridians, like nerves, are an interconnected pathway that allows the body to communicate with itself and facilitates healing.
- Q: Is Acupuncture painful?
No. We specialise in a gentle and effective approach to Acupuncture. Babies and children are happy to receive treatments. Often you will have no sensation that a needle has been used. If you are unsure, we have the option of laser stimulation, which has no physical sensation.
- Q: Can I have Acupuncture if I'm scared of needles?
Yes. We will work with you slowly to ensure that you are both comfortable and as relaxed as possible. Our goal at Studio Qi is that you have a positive and memorable experience. We use an extremely fine needle; you will be amazed at how gentle your treatment will be.
- Q: Are treatments claimable?
Treatments at Studio Qi are claimable by most private health funds. If your fund accepts acupuncture you will be able to claim on services provided by us. Check with your fund on your level of cover, if they are with registered with HICAPS for Acupuncture we can process your treatment and you will receive your refund immediately.
- Q: Do you have HICAPS?
Yes. At Studio Qi we want your process to be as simple as possible. HICAPS means that you can claim with us and get your private health rebate immediately. No more running around to health funds.
- Q: Do you have eftpos and credit card facilities?
Yes. We have eftpos and credit card facilities. We also have HICAPS meaning that if you have private health cover you should be able to claim your benefit on the spot at Studio Qi.
- Q: Will Acupuncture and/or Chinese herbs effect or counteract my any of my medications?
At Studio Qi we are trained to work with your medical team and advice to ensure that the treatment that you receive is both safe and effective.
- Q: How many treatments will I need?
At your first treatment we will spend time with you to assess your specific condition. At this time we will design a treatment plan that works for you and take into account your time and financial circumstances. Conditions respond depending on such things as duration of you condition and your state of health. For most conditions we recommend you having treatment initially twice a week but this can vary depending on your unique circumstances. Your following treatment will give us a guide as to how you are responding, with treatment plans being continually updated.

Actually this is an incredibly beneficial time to treat you and your baby as we work with specific conditions related to pregnancy: morning sickness, back pain, low energy, colds, turning a breech baby and bringing labour on at your due date.
