When your waters break

When your waters break

Sometimes it's like a gush of water that literally leaves you standing in a puddle and then it could be a slow trickle that you know isn't like any other bodily fluid.

Sometimes the contractions start straight away after the waters break.

Sometimes the contractions may have started well before the waters break.

Then other times they don't start straight away after the waters break.

Every woman is different and has their own rhythm of going into labour, so go with your body, it knows.

These days they give you 96 hours after your waters break before they will start medical invention. If you want to take these hours before intervention then stand strong and seek modalities that can safely help natural induction.

At Supporting Natural Birth, which is our online course that offers you acupressure points that will encourage your body to produce oxytocin and shows you how to apply these. The workbook gives you specific points to use, showing you where to find them and how to use them. There is clear written chapters and short 2 minute videos of how to find and pressure these points. It's very simple to follow, so you and your birthing partner can massage and apply pressure to these points in the comfort of your own home. The course also goes into other acupressure points for birth to help with contraction pain, nausea, anxiety and post uterus pains, plus to help your breast milk to flow.

Raspberry Leaf Tea can also enhance contractions so get sipping. A stretch and sweep by your midwife or obstetrician at this time may help move things in the right direction.

Best, Tabitha
